Jesinta Franklin opens up about married life, fashion and her fridge
JESINTA Franklin is one of our biggest faces in fashion, but there’s one thing the she says you will never see in her fridge.
FRESH off the back of her wedding, honeymoon, Christmas and bringing in the New Year — Jesinta Franklin says she can’t wait to hit the ground running as a married woman.
“I really had such a good amount of time off [four weeks], which I haven’t done in such a long time,” Mrs Franklin told news.com.au.
“It was a really nice and gave us [Buddy Franklin] time to enjoy the wedding and the honeymoon, without all the madness of being in Sydney.”
Mrs Franklin, who married the AFL star at a secret ceremony last November in the Blue Mountains, said while her wedding was the “best day” of her life this far, only one thing has really changed in their relationship.
“Day to day stuff hasn’t really changed, we still get up at the same time and go to bed at the same time,” she said.
“But there’s definitely a deeper connection between us.”
Mrs Franklin, who is an ambassador for David Jones and will walk for the Autumn/Winter show at Sydney’s Cathedral Square tonight, said she has no intention on adding to the Franklin family just yet.
“I’m 25 at the moment, and I’ve only just gotten married,” she said.
“So I think we are just going to enjoy marriage together for a while and see where life takes us.”
Flying solo at tonight’s launch, Mrs Franklin said she’s given Buddy “the night off” and will be bringing a friend to sit in the front row instead.
In what’s been dubbed the “hottest runway yet” for David Jones, Mrs Franklin will strut down the runway alongside Victoria’s Secret models Bridget Malcolm and Karlie Kloss, and fellow ambassador Jessica Gomes.
“I think it’s really exciting when we bring big names to Australia,” Mrs Franklin said.
“Karlie Kloss has walked for the biggest designers in the world, and she’s shot for the biggest fashion magazines.
“She’s an internationally acclaimed model, and for us to be able to walk alongside her is really exciting, and very exciting that she gets to experience Australian fashion too.
“I hope she falls in love with the place.”
With the show requiring a little more clothing than the spring/summer runway, Mrs Franklin said that her exercise regimen is perhaps a little more relaxed than it is for modelling in a swimsuit.
“Autumn/Winter isn’t as crazy [to prepare for] as it is for the Spring/Summer show,” she admitted.
“I always try and stay as fit and active and healthy as possible all year round, but in the lead up to Spring/Summer I do put in a lot more hours in at the gym because you’re there in a bikini.
“But I still focus a lot on my health and fitness, because you want to put your best foot forward.”
As for her pantry, Mrs Franklin said there’s one thing she will never consume or keep on hand when it comes to her diet.
“I would never have soft drink in my pantry, and I would never drink it,” she said.
“I don’t like to put that amount of sugar in my body, and I think it’s really toxic for you.
“People should also be very careful with fruit juice, which are usually really high in sugar.”
As for staples, Mrs Franklin said there are three things that she couldn't live without.
“Eggs, I just love them especially in the morning,” she said.
“Bananas are also always in the kitchen for all my smoothies, and avocados I always have on hand as well.
“I think everything else is OK in moderation. I love chocolate — but do I have it every day? No.”
