Bartell, wife off the very-bearded Jimmy went first, sneaking a snap of her J’Aton Couture number onto social media. This was met with a cry of “Elvis has left the building” from some quick-witted commentators.
Cementing the rumour that plunging onesies are on so trend this year, Jesinta Campbell trotted out her version at the SCG for the Sydney Swans Brownlow event.
But the prize for most out-there outfit of the evening goes to Gary Ablett Jr’s wife Jordan. She went for BOOTS and PLUNGING and NO PANTS and JACKET and BIG RINGS and CHOKER and ALL OF THE THINGS ALL AT ONCE.
Another lass who had many of the gents struggling to maintain eye contact was Jessie Habermann, partner of Carlton captain Marc Murphy.
The neckline-round-your-belly-button look was also favoured by Courtney Boyd, partner of Tom Lynch of the Adelaide Crows.
Every year there are a handful of dames who fly in the face of the low-cut frock. They feel they missed out on the opportunity to wear tuille and for once in their goddamn lives they’re going to do it. Some of them look like a dream (Jessie Hultgren, take a bow) while others just look a bit tangled up.
