Meghan Markle opts for same colour outfit Diana wore on iconic visit

Meghan Markle has yet again taken inspiration from late Princess Diana’s stylish fashion sense, by recreating one of her iconic looks with a dress costing just $70.

The fashion rules Meghan Markle is breaking

Princess Diana was a woman of sheer class and style, turning heads in almost everything she wore — and now Meghan Markle is following in her fashion footsteps.

The Duchess of Sussex channelled the late princess, and mother of her husband Prince Harry, by recreating one of her most stylish and bold looks during an appearance with her royal husband on Monday — in a dress that costs just $70.

The mum-to-be wore a purple long-sleeve maxi dress “Maxwell” by Aritizia’s Babaton which retails for just $70 and teamed it with a scarlet red wrap coat by Canadian brand Sentaler ($1935).

Sadly, both items have now sold out.

Meghan finished her look with red suede pumps from Stuart Weitzman — which would set you back $592.74.

The late Princess of Wales was also fond of this colour combination — as royal admirers were quick to recall on social media — having pointed out that Diana wore a similar colour palette when she visited the Taj Mahal in India in 1992.

She had even opted for a similar scheme when she visited Hong Kong in 1989 and Thailand in 1988.

This isn’t the first time Meghan, 37, has channelled her husband’s late mother.

When Meghan and Harry visited Australia on their first royal tour as married couple, she honoured Diana by wearing her diamond butterfly earrings and gold bracelet.

She also wore Diana’s emerald-cut aquamarine ring to her wedding reception back in May and paid tribute to her late mother-in-law with her bridal bouquet.

Their Aussie tour also marked the time for some very exciting news — that the new Duchess was pregnant.

And only yesterday, while in the English town of Birkenhead, she revealed that the royal baby was due in April.

The popular Duke and Duchess are in the town for a series of engagements and were met by large number of wellwishers who clapped and cheered as they got a glimpse of the pair.

This was the most specific update royal admirers have received about the baby’s due date. Meghan had reportedly hinted she was “nearly there” during a visit to Sandringham in December.

In other news, it has been reported that Meghan’s female bodyguard has quit after less than a year.

The police officer, who has never been named for security reasons, was pictured leaping into action when Meghan abruptly left a market in Fiji during the royal tour of Australia and the Pacific last October.

It comes just weeks before Meghan and Prince Harry are due to move into Frogmore Cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle ahead of the birth of their first child.
