Woman shares hilarious online purchase fail

While there’s always a risk to purchasing clothes online, one woman was shocked to receive her order — sharing the hilarious fashion faux pas.

Woman's $40 dress fail

Purchasing clothes online can be convenient, but there’s always the risk that the garment might not look quite as expected when it arrives.

And that was the exact scenario Sophie Gingell, from the UK, found herself in when she received a £20 ($A40) thigh-skimming white summer dress she had ordered on ASOS.

In a short clip shared to TikTok, the amused shopper posted a snap of the figure-hugging garment, which features cut out side details, on the ASOS model, The Sun reports.

“So this is what I ordered….” she wrote in the post.

Seconds later, Sophie could be seen wearing the unflattering, baggy garment in her dressing room — and it looked completely unrecognisable to the website’s photo.

Seeing the funny side of the fashion faux pas, Sophie joked: “Thanks ASOS … now what do I wear tonight? The bin bag looked better.”

And it turns out Sophie wasn’t the only one to question the summer dress.

“Looks like the bin bag it is,” joked one, while a second penned: “Can I say I laughed for at least five minutes.”

A third added: “It looks like my protective gear.”

Elsewhere, a further tried to see the positive and quipped: “It’s ideal you can get a bottle down each side cheap night out.”

Meanwhile, another wrote: “You’d make an excellent extra in an Oliver Twist movie wearing that!”
