Why Kmart $8 sandals have shoppers panicking

Everyone loves a bargain – but scores of Kmart shoppers are reporting the same, ahem, noisy issue with one popular fashion item.

Wild theory about why Kmart item is ‘always sold out’

When it comes to fashion and accessories, Kmart’s clothing has a cult following among shoppers.

It’s famous for selling some of the biggest styles of the season at the fraction of the cost of other retailers – frequently selling out of the most popular items.

But a set of Kmart sandals have sparked an unusual complaint from shoppers, who’ve taken to Facebook to complaint about a, ahem, noisy problem with them.

Kmart is once again selling its Double Buckle Footbed Slides, a popular sandal that’s a fraction of the cost of the similar-looking brand version Birkenstocks.

The sandals cost a fraction of the cost of the similar-looking Birkenstocks.

But while Kmart’s slides cost $8 compared to Birkenstocks’ $134 price tag, shoppers have reported Kmart’s version omit an unfortunate sound when you walk in them.

“How in the hell do you make these things stop sounding like your farting every damn step you take?” one exasperated shopper asked in the Kmart Inspired Homes Facebook group.

Her question got dozens of responses from other woman who said they had the same “foot fart” problem.

“Thank God it’s a real thing haha, I embraced the fart sounds because they are such comfy shoes,” one person wrote.

“I have a pair of these and I walk so awkwardly to stop the foot fart,” another commented.

Others said they were “so glad I’m not the only one” as they “thought I just had weird feet”.

Some said they had the same problem with other cheaper brands and even the real Birkenstocks.

But fortunately there’s a solution – first shared last year by another sandal-weary wearer struck down with the same windy problem – and it involves a pair of scissors.

“Simply pierce the arch of the sandal a few times with scissors,” the post, which was reshared in Kmart Hacks & Decor earlier this month, explains.

“It will leave holes in your shoes but no-one will see them.”

Those who had pricked holes in the sandals swore it had solved their “foot fart” problems.

“I had this problem, it was so embarrassing people looked a few times when in quiet places … awesome hack,” one person wrote.

“I did this to mine and no more farting noises,” another commented. “If I heard any more noises, I just added a few more holes.”
