US stores selling size triple zero to keep up with Hollywood’s skinny obsession
HOLLYWOOD’S obsession with staying skinny has just taken another dive with the sale of a size triple zero.
IF YOU think actors, singers and models that grace the covers of glossy magazines are way too skinny, then you ain’t seen nothing yet.
Hollywood’s obsession with staying skinny has just taken another dive with the sale of a size triple zero. Yes, you heard correct, a triple zero!
That’s the equivalent of a UK zero or five sizes smaller than a UK size 10. To put it even more bluntly, that’s 23 inches around the waist — the same as the waistband on a six to eight-year-old girl’s skirt.

Recent years have seen the likes of Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Adele bring back curves but in an industry that thrives on shock value it’s just not enough.
”Right now it’s in to be thin in Hollywood,” an LA source told Grazia magazine.
“Although there are thankfully curvier role models out there, from Kim Kardashian to Beyonce, it’s a cut-throat industry and it’s no secret that stars can make headlines out of being scarily skinny. It’s not about size zero anymore.
“These days, double zero sizes don’t cut it either. Size triple zero is the number one goal here.”
While you can’t buy a size triple zero in Australia or the UK, you can in the US in stores including Abercrombie & Fitch.
Health experts say the rise of the triple zero can be attributed to the power of social media — in particular the selfie.
Celebrities including Nicole Richie, Alexa Chung and Kate Bosworth regularly post images on social media looking super thin.

“The selfie craze in particular has intensified this, and celebrities know that if they post a picture of themselves looking skinny, with ribs on show, they’ll get attention,” A-list trainer James Duigan told Grazia.
“But it isn’t always real — sometimes they’re breathing in and sometimes the angle makes them look thinner than they really are.”
