Spanx jeans are here to suck you in
WOULD you wear a denim version of the brand that is usually known to suck you in and lift your bottom, all in the hope of making you look perkier?
JUST about every female knows that Spanx can hide a multitude of, well, lumps and bumps you’d prefer to keep hidden.
But would you wear a denim version of the brand that is usually known to suck you in and lift your bottom, all in the hope of making you look perkier?
The answer seems to be a resounding ‘yes’ from those of us who have helped the shapewear juggernaut become a multi-billion dollar company.
The empire, headed up by billionaire Sara Blakely, has just added two styles of jeans to its stomach-tightening, thigh-flattening menu.
Could this just be the end of the muffin top as we know it?
There are two different styles, one called The Signature, which features an in-built waistband (goodbye muffin top!) and the other is The Slim-X, a straight-leg style, which uses its own ‘injeanius’ design. (That’s Spanx-speak for ‘shape your figure’.)
While the Spanx name has become part of fashion folklore — red carpet regulars have been happy enough to yell out that ‘yes, I’m wearing Spanx!’ - but whether the same boasts will happen when they’re wearing Spanx jeans may be a different story.
When it comes to wearing denim, it’s all about branding so whether the Spanx will give Levi’s, True Religion, Diesel, Nude and Acne, a run for their money, we have yet to see.
Spanx, of course, has become the must-have and most high-profiled brand whose main aim is to smooth and ‘flatter’ the figure of every shape. And the story of how it started is simple.
Blakely was living in Florida, hated wearing pantyhose, but loved the smooth look they gave her when she was wearing a dress, pants or pencil skirt.
Voila! She cut the legs off her stockings and her idea turned into a billion dollar business.
The Spanx jeans can be found at spanx.com with prices starting at around $120.
