We all know how frustrating it can be rushing around to find an outfit for an upcoming event – especially if you have raided your cupboard but found nothing suitable.

But one mum has proven that with a little bit of creativity, anything is possible when it comes to fashion.

Taking to a popular Facebook group, Bree Ellen, 26, of Adelaide, who is expecting her second child, revealed that she turned a $20 Kmart sleepwear gown into a formal dress.

“Kmart sleepwear is my new ‘evening wear’. You’re welcome,” she captioned the post.

It shows the mum posing in her savvy creation, pairing the navy gown with a matching beige belt, earings and shoes.

To complete the dressy look, she opted for a sleek high ponytail, which she draped over her right shoulder for the photos.

Since sharing her unique sleepwear transformation on Monday, her post has been ‘liked’ more than 2300 times with hundreds of comments from fellow Kmart shoppers praising her idea.

“Are you kidding me? How stunning. Only wish I looked half as good in the daytime,” one woman wrote.

“You look amazing! Great hack and all the best with your pregnancy,” wrote another.

“Wow, would never have guessed,” a third person commented, while a fourth agreed that she too “would not even recognise the dress as a sleepwear”.

“That is absolutely awesome – all you need to do is come home take the belt off and go to bed! What a brilliant idea,” said another.

Ms Ellen joked that when she was leaving the event – a 30th birthday – she joked to her husband that she was already half ready for bed.

“The eyeroll from my partner was worth it in itself,” she laughed.

The mother-of-one said she is five months pregnant and there’s “no way” she would have gone out in a “real dress” while feeling like a “baby whale”.

“When I saw this and tried it on, it was super comfortable and I knew I wanted it,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

“On the night, I was heaps warm while everyone else was running around trying to find heaters.”

She’s not the only one to transform nightwear into formal attire, with other woman also sharing their “hacks”.

“Am glad I am not the only one wearing a sleepwear (shirt dress) as every day clothing,” one woman wrote, while another added, “When your PJs look like normal clothes. Don’t have to get changed for preschool drop off haha,” alongside a snap of her outfit.

Ms Ellen’s nightgown turned evening wear is currently available in size 6 to 16, with sizes 18 to 28 already sold out.
