Kmart launches new summer ‘21 womenswear collection

An Australian woman let down by Kylie Jenner’s “poor quality” bikini line turned to Kmart for help and was amazed by what she found.

Kmart’s new womenswear summer collection has only just hit stores, but already shoppers are excited about many of the pieces.

The new apparel line, called “Sundream”, takes inspiration from the hues of Australian summer sky, with lots of fun and bold colours to brighten wardrobes.

Officially, the collection launches on Thursday, but stock has already begun hitting stores prompting a flurry of photos and videos from shoppers sharing their Kmart finds.

A popular item is a mustard yellow midi that began trickling out nationwide a few weeks ago with huge success.

The sleeveless dress is made in a trendy ribbed fabric and priced at $22, with bloggers raving it looks significantly more expensive than its affordable price tag.

Affordable fashion bloggers have also taken to tank tops made from a similar ribbed fabric priced at $6 that come in an array of colours.

A longer “knit” version featured in Kmart’s winter collection, priced at $12, and was very popular – recently being shown in a Brisbane stylist’s $60 outfit that went viral on TikTok.

If you like a bit more coverage, the budget retailer has a short-sleeve button front midi dress on offer that has been popping up on Instagram.

The blue and white patterned design is a cotton blend material and retails for $28, with fashion blogger @shessoseasonal writing: “I’m feeling so happy in this colour, print and style.”

Of course, a summer Kmart drop wouldn’t be compete without a bikini or two, and shoppers have already eyed the styles they’ll be putting in their shopping baskets.

TikTok user @talia.schonegevel shared a video trying on several of the new Kmart bikinis after being recommended them following a disappointing purchase of Kylie Swimwear.

The Sydney blogger described the quality as “amazing” and declared they all look “super cute”.

However her favourite was the “Balconette Bikini”, $12, and the matching “High Waist Swimwear Briefs” which were also $12.

“I am so happy, Kmart, you are a vibe,” she said. “It literally fits me so bloody well.”

She then rated the swimwear “10/10” adding the items made her “feel great”.

Julie Miller Sensini, Kmart’s general manager of apparel and design said the “Sundream” collection was designed to be comfortable and “infuse happiness”.

“It was designed in Australia during lockdown, the use of colour in the range was a key focus alongside textures, patterns and silhouettes aimed at cultivating joy as we begin to emerge from our homes and embrace the warmer weather.”

To celebrate, Kmart is hosting a free masterclass on October 20 at 7.30pm AEDT where viewers will receive tips and tricks on how to style their homes and wardrobes for less.
