How to wear daring ‘hip split’ trend without flashing anyone

The popular ‘hip split’ trend comes with an X-rated problem – now an expert has revealed how to wear the risque item to avoid flashing.

How to rock the 'hip split' trend

While the world has battled its way through a seemingly never-ending string of Covid variants this year, the fashion scene had an interesting 12 months of its own.

2021 has been the year of revealing fashion trends, with new takes on popular garments appearing to adopt the slogan “the raunchier, the better”.

At the start of the year, we saw the “underboob” trend move from swimwear to dresses and we also saw a resurgence of the “upside down” bikini.

Most recently, the “hip split” trend began to dominate clothing racks, as women flocked to rock the daring look that originated on the red carpet.

But while the look is impossibly sexy, it’s arguably a nightmare to wear in real life.

As celebrities and influencers filled our social media feeds wearing dresses that flaunted their pins up to their belly buttons, some of us had questions.

Underwear is undoubtedly a problem but also a requirement with an outfit so risque. After all, no one wants to flash their bits – but how do you wear any undergarments without it ruining the whole sexy vibe?

Zoe Fadeev, Head Of Product at MESHKI, an affordable Australian fashion label offering designs with hip splits told news.com.au the answer was actually very simple.

“We are not going to lie, you need to be cautious however we have designed the dresses to perfectly fit the body,” she said.

“Lucky too the trend at the moment is high cut briefs, so they work perfectly under these dresses and skirts with high splits. Others prefer not to wear underwear at all.”

The risk of flashing however, doesn’t appear to have put many people off wearing the latest trend.

While Australian shoppers are snapping up the sexy style, it’s also proved to be extremely popular overseas too.

British reality stars have been spotted wearing the outfits to glitzy events – while Aussie stars have also been wearing the “hip split” out to post-lockdown gatherings and parties.

So the only question left to ask is, are you game enough to rock a hip split yourself?
