Bold looks at second Coachella music festival weekend
It’s the second weekend of one of the most sought after music festivals in the world but Coachella’s fashion is another big draw of the show.
Global celebrities and influencers are flaunting their raciest outfits at the highly anticipated 2023 Coachella music festival.
The event, which kicked off at last weekend, and continued this weekend, will see 125,000 people descend onto the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
Festival-goers, performers and influencers alike have risen to the challenge of bringing bold looks to the highly anticipated event.
Last weekend, many embraced the cowboy look, with American YouTuber Lele Pons being praised for her chest-plate.
This weekend, New Zealand singer-songwriter Benee took to the stage in a baggy denim outfit featuring a dusty pink cargo pants and long sleeve jacket.
Benee’s 2019 song Supalonely was heavily featured as a TikTok dance at the beginning of the pandemic.
The 23-year-old finished the outfit with black shoes, bold nails and dark hair styled in long plaits.
Meanwhile Yungblud took to the stage in a cropped black top with a sheer long sleeve garment underneath, with denim shorts and a studded belt and bracelets.
The Tissues singer, who isn’t afraid to wear bold fashion choices, finished the look with knee high socks.
Festival-goers opted for bold prints compared to the colour blocking performers.
One duo was photographed with the young woman in form-fitting pants with a loud orange and blue print, pairing it with a crop top and parisole.
Meanwhile, her male companion wore a bold white and black top that were paired with denim shorts and sneakers.
Another duo opted for more muted, summer clothing but chose to make their look stand out with large chunky scarfs.
Jaden Smith, the son of actors Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, was called up on stage as a guest performer by one of the acts.
Smith wore a suit jacket with ripped up jeans as he danced his way through his performance.
It comes after news that singer Frank Ocean will no longer be headlining the second week of Coachella.
The R&B star was forced to drop out of the iconic California music festival due to injury, his rep confirmed with Variety.
“After suffering an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend 1,
Frank Ocean was unable to perform the intended show but was still intent on performing, and in 72 hours, the show was reworked out of necessity,” his rep said in a statement.
“On doctor’s advice, [the] artist is not able to perform weekend 2 due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.”
In the statement, Ocean himself added: “It was chaotic. There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show, but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.”
The news comes days after Ocean’s performance during the first weekend of Coachella – his first concert in six years – was labelled a “trainwreck”. The 35-year-old – who also has not released an album since 2016 – headlined the festival on Sunday night but his gig was panned by disappointed fans.
