Beard trend not going anywhere, say Queensland's most hirsute hipsters
STYLE gurus might have given them the chop, but beards are still growing strong. Which type are you?
BACK off the beards. That's the word from Queensland men who are adamant facial fuzz fashion will never die.
While style pundits are declaring manly whiskers "so last season'', hairy hipsters, well-groomed models and true-blue blokes are all in agreement that their chin camouflage is here to stay.

Brisbane's Jodie Bache-McLean from Dally Models, however, says bearded male models are not in big demand, with handsome, clean-shaven men often preferred.
But Queensland model Cleve Hughes, 27, from Vivien's Model Management, who sports a perfectly trimmed beard, said: "I think I am in demand because of my beard. It makes me stand out in a sea of fresh faces. It's a style that will never go away. Some women like men to look masculine."

Kayla Wall, 22, loves a beard. The Brisbane student is marrying Dan Boyle, who sports an impressive Ned Kelly style.
"There are down factors, like when food gets caught in there, but I just laugh about that and all-in-all, I love Dan's facial hair," she said.
"He does nothing with it but promises a slight trim for the wedding day."
Dan vows his roaring red, bushy whiskers are his trademark and are going nowhere.
Rebekah Culliney, 22, who works in marketing, agrees that beards are hot.
"They are still very popular in Brisbane with all kinds of guys. I think the baby face is out," she said.
Beards becoming hipster accessory
It has been reported overseas that since previously hirsute celebrities like George Clooney have walked the red carpet clean-shaven during awards season, that the beard trend is about to get the chop.
Personal trainer Sam Barker, 33, of West End, is emotionally attached to his Amish-style beard and he doesn't care about fashion predictions.
"When I first grew it, I said to myself I will shave it off when I reach certain personal goals. But each time I met the goals, I just couldn't do it. It gets in the way of barbells at times, but it is my signature look and I plan to keep it," he said.
