Aldi bag’s ‘secret’ compartment sends shoppers into frenzy
Sporting a stylish pattern and at just $25, it’s easy to see why this picnic bag is a winner — but there’s another hidden use that has people excited.
With a stylish pattern, it’s not hard to see why shoppers would be going crazy over this $25 Aldi tote.
But it is a hidden feature of the discount supermarket chain’s “Special Buy”s handbag, which hits stores on December 21, that’s whipping people into a frenzy.
The tote comes with a concealed compartment containing a removable liquid pouch that allows drinks to be dispensed straight from the bag.
It’s also reusable, meaning you can refill that bad boy to your heart’s delight all summer long.
To make the tote even more palatable, it comes with a large main compartment meaning there’s plenty of room for a picnic rug and food.
Featured in the catalogue in a stylish leaf print, the tote also comes in a range of other patterns.
Given our national penchant for bagged wine (who hasn’t played Goon Of Fortune at one stage of their life?), when news of the “brilliant” tote got out shoppers — understandably — were excited.
“This is a need,” one person wrote in the Aldi Mums Facebook group, while another added: “I want this for Christmas.”
“Oh shut up and take my money,” another comment read, while another tagged their pal and wrote: “How good would this be for movie nights!!!
Meanwhile, another tagged their partner and wrote: “I revoke on the no Christmas gifts … the self dispensing cooler bag is an essential.”
The bag made similar waves on Instagram, with one person joking that it was the perfect purchase “for the stylish bogan”.
“The essential item for park playdates,” another wrote.
ALDI AIR FRYER’S ‘AMAZING’ EXTRA FEATURE
It’s not the first time an Aldi product has sparked a frenzy because of a hidden function.
Back in September, savvy cooks took to Facebook to reveal a $149 air fryer came with the ability to dehydrate foods, meaning fruit and vegetables could be preserved as snacks rather than thrown out.
Posting in Aldi Facebook groups, shoppers lucky to get their hands on one of the air fryers have shown off the appliance’s “amazing” extra trick.
“OMG!!! The Aldi Air Fryer also dehydrates no more wasting herbs,” one person wrote in Aldi Mums Facebook group.
Others used the air fryer to dehydrate fruit, turning it into “great little healthy snack treat food”, one person commented.
“I cut thin pieces (about) 2-3mm! Then brushed lightly with lemon juice (bottle) to stop browning! Then did them at 70 degrees for 6 hours,” a commenter explained.
Many expressed amazement at the extra function while lamenting their own air fryer didn’t have that function.
“This is (a) new thing for me,” one commented, while another added: “OMG you can do that in an air fryer? I need to upgrade mine. It’s crapola compared to this.”
