Robert Irwin surprises fans with runway debut at Melbourne Fashion Festival

The wildlife warrior caused jaws to drop after stepping out for an unexpected new role while in Melbourne on Wednesday evening.

Robert Irwin has stunned fans with a surprise new gig: walking the runway at PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival.

The beloved “wildlife warrior” traded in his signature khaki uniform for his catwalk debut on Wednesday night, appearing as one of the models in the Suit Up Runway alongside his I’m A Celebrity co-host Julia Morris.

The runway, which was supported by Network 10, showcased “dressing at its finest” using garments from Australian designers, with Irwin rocking a number of dapper outfits for the occasion.

The 20-year-old initially stepped out in a black tuxedo which was paired with an oversized tweed bomber jacket.

His smart ensemble was quickly followed by a striking white tuxedo with a black blazer and waistcoat.

Later, the passionate conservationist – son of the late Steve Irwin – stepped out in a blue velvet suit paired with white sneakers and a matching turtleneck.

Fans have been quick to share their joy at Irwin’s latest role, which comes ahead of his TV host debut next month, labelling his runway appearance as “iconic”.

“Robert is so handsome!!!!” one wrote on Instagram.

“Obsessed,” another shared.

Morris also walked in the show, wearing a black strapless gown from Alin Le’kal with an oversized statement coat the comedian wore low on her shoulders before swinging it around.

The surprise runway appearance comes just a few weeks after Irwin announced his break-up from girlfriend Rorie Buckey.

The pair, who had reportedly been dating for one year, shared the shock news that they had parted ways in joint statement on Instagram in February.

“We wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways but profoundly appreciate all of the time spent together and wish one another all the very best into the future,” the post shared on Buckey’s Instagram Stories read.

“We wish to express the gratitude and respect we have for one another as we continue our journey on different paths.”
