Kanye West causes chaos at New York Fashion Week with ‘hideous’ Yeezy 2 clothing line
HE has incredible influence and filled New York Fashion Week with stars — but Kanye West’s latest clothing line was dubbed ‘hideous’ as he pushed it on to the runway.
HE has incredible influence and filled New York Fashion Week with stars — but Kanye West’s latest clothing line was dubbed ‘hideous’ as he pushed it on to the runway.
Just like Victoria Beckham’s rocky climb to success, the music mogul has been persistent in breaking on to the fashion scene.
The rapper-turned-designer presented his second season Yeezy x Adidas shoe collection, overshadowed with his own clothing line.
But the collection drew a mixed response. The rapper was criticised for putting a hefty price tag on clothing that some said were reminsiscent of the homeless or extras from The Walking Dead. One male model even unexpectedly lit up a cigarette on the runway.
“Kanye about to make being homeless in style, spend your life savings to look like you have none,” joked one social media user.
Ranging from sand to khaki, the line featured skin tight leotards, leggings and oversized sporty garments sparked a mixed response on Twitter.
@kanyewest I love you bro. Biggest fan but your clothing line is the exact opposite of what you preach. pic.twitter.com/1T9ty0fFWx

Kanye's fashion line reminds me of the "Derelicte" line from Zoolander. #YeezySeason2 #HoboChic pic.twitter.com/p6blTF6jqx

I cannot take Kanye West seriously as a fashion designer. I defy his collections to look good on anyone. #hideous

West didn’t do himself any favours in making friends within the fashion industry.
The Yeezy showing was only announced a few days prior to the event, blind-siding designers who were scheduled for the same slot on the official New York Fashion Week line-up.
A fustrated Anne Bowen, who was set to debut her new street collection Nomad V11 opted to reschedule.
“Kanye knows he is a media sensation and it is just not ethical to do this,” she vented to Women’s Wear Daily.
“It’s like we are David and he is Goliath. We have put our heart and soul into our show, and should not be stepped on like this.”
Designer Naeem Khan stated: “I am confident that the fans of the brand and those in the industry who truly appreciate the art of design and craftsmanship, will come out to support us. I am thrilled with the new collection and we are looking forward to a great show.”
West’s fashion show attracted A-list guests including Anna Wintour, Riccardo Tisci, Debbie Harry, Courtney Love, Drake, Lorde, Sting, Jaden Smith, Helena Christensen and his sisters-in-law Khloe and Kourtney, and Kendall Jenner.
The rapper also released a new song during Yeezy 2, titled I feel it, which got his daughter North West up and dancing.

Sitting on his wife Kim Kardashian’s lap, the duo sported matching beige outfits as the two-year-old made her presence known throughout the show.
Model of the moment, Kendall Jenner surpisingly sat second row, as she watched on little sister Kylie Jenner and celebrity pal Bella Hadid discreetly march down the runway.
