Jennifer Hawkins’ top 5 Myer Spring Summer 2015 Australian fashion trends
LOOK no further for your fashion fix: Here is your 5 minute guide to the hottest looks for summer, according to Myer star Jennifer Hawkins.
AFTER a sizzling start to the new fashion season from Jennifer Hawkins at tonight’s Myer show in Sydney, the style chick has pinpointed the trends to look out for exclusively for news.com.au
As the warmer weather fast approaches, expect to see fresh florals, ‘wearable’ art and lots of styles to fit a ‘modern global nomad’.
Here are some of Jen’s highlights:
WHITE OUT
Jen says: “All white is a massive trend for summer with lots of us wearing white on white on white.”
Think fresh, clean, crisp shades of white this summer with white on white one of the most chic trends to follow. From relaxed beachside looks to flirty fun cocktail dresses, brands to watch include Bul, Maticevski and White Suede.
SUMMER SORBET
Jen says: “Sorbet colours are really soft, beautiful and feminine for the new season.”
Sorbet hues will freshen your new season wardrobe with washed out pastel colours including lilac, peach, mint, baby blue and pink. The look is pretty and feminine with lace motifs and flowing silhouettes from brands like By Johnny and Fleur Wood.
TROPICAL OASIS:
Jen says: “We’ve got lots of pineapples, tropical prints, palm tress and some very fruity patterns.’’
This is a great way to emerge from winter in lots of colour. Dress with green, yellow, orange, bright pink and teal mixed with prints that are tropically inspired — think palm trees, oversized leaves, birds and colourful fruit. Labels nailing it include Cue, Jayson Brunsdon and Karen Walker.
WEARABLE ART
Jen says: “These include lots of coloured prints and I think most females really like this kind of dressing.”
According to some of Myer’s designers, art is not just for hanging on the wall this summer with punchy, technicolour shades and bright clashing colours defining a key trend. Whether you prefer bold graffiti brushstrokes or geometric cubist prints, there is sure to be something to suit your personal style. Check out names like Piper, Charlie Brown and Jane Lamerton.
WORLD TRAVELLER
Jen says: “With this you have to think a very relaxed, boho vibe and it’s one that I particularly love.’’
It’s a global safari as animal motifs and silhouettes take centre stage for summer. The world traveller is mysterious and sophisticated, with earthy colours reminiscent of the desert and sky. Prints reflect the global inspiration with geometric tribal motifs, swirls and zigzags, teamed
with all types of animal prints in neutral earthy tones. Brands to look for include Sass & Bide, YB J’AIME and Kate Sylvester.
