Former cleaner becomes Sports Illustrated swimsuit finalist

TO MAKE ends meet as she was trying to find work as a model, Tabria Majors worked as a cleaner in LA. Now she is a Sports Illustrated swimsuit finalist.

SPORTS Illustrated Swimsuit Issue finalist Tabria Majors was ‘maid’ to model.

The 27-year-old beauty from Nashville, Tennessee, told the New York Post she had no desire to pose until an agency scouted her on Instagram in 2014.

When she left her nine-to-five job as a production assistant in Los Angeles to pursue modelling full-time in 2015, she took a side gig as a maid to support her new career.

“Modelling is an expensive career when you first start — you have to invest in yourself and pay for photo shoots and maintain your appearance,” Majors said.

“When I told people at modelling jobs [that I was moonlighting as a cleaner], they looked at me with disgust.”

They’re not looking at her that way anymore. Majors cleaned her last home a year ago, and now she’s focused on her modelling career and podcast “The Thick,” where she talks about her experiences being a plus-size woman of colour.

Majors says her stint as a maid “taught me a lot — I can handle a lot more than [other] people can. I’ll do whatever I need to do to get where I wanna be.”
