Afterpay Fashion Week sees racy bikini trend emerge

It might be cold outside, but it hasn’t stopped one model making an appearance at Afterpay Fashion Week in a skimpy bikini top.

Revealing upside down bikini trend takes over social media

It might be officially winter this week but it hasn’t stopped both attendees and models alike from wearing bikinis at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week.

Perth influencer Emily Davies attended Wednesday’s Daniel Avakian show at Carriageworks wearing a khaki bikini top by Dion Lee which showed off her toned stomach.

Davies also wore the top’s matching high-waisted bottoms, as well as co-ordinating green pants.

She accessorised her look with a chunky gold chain necklace and hoop earrings, keeping her makeup classic by sporting a cat eye look.

Davies’ followers praised the influencer’s daring look, commenting on Instagram that they were “in love” and “dying” over her outfit.

Later on Thursday night was the Michael Lo Sordo show, which was an intimate dinner at Sydney restaurant Bambini Trust.

Rather than walk a runway, models posed in the brand’s new collection among guests which included David Jones ambassador Victoria Lee and Jessica Gomes.

One model braved the chilly evening temperature in a skimpy silver bikini top that left little to the imagination.

The top was paired with a low rise black maxi skirt and wasn’t the only racy look at the show – another model went topless under an oversized coat.

The bikini top is the first real glimpse of the underboob trend at Fashion Week, with the look popular among influencers like Tammy Hembrow and Martha Kalifatidis.

The trend, which is a more racy twist on the underboob, has now spread from swimwear into clothing where it’s become known as the “duct tape” look.

Last month, TikTok star Addison Rae took the trend to new heights at the MTV Movie Awards wearing an outfit by Australian designer Christopher Esber which featured a revealing boob tube top.
