Women’s fashion label Brandy Melville to open second store in Melbourne

A women’s clothing label, known for catering to more petite sizes, is set to expand its Aussie operation to a second store.

Three years after opening its first Australian store in Sydney, popular overseas fashion label Brandy Melville is branching out to a second shop, this time in Melbourne.

The European clothing store, which caters to a limited clientele of those who fit sizes 4 to 6, opened a store in Sydney’s Bondi Junction Westfield in December 2019.

Now, one eagle-eyed shopper has spotted that a second store is set to open, this time in Melbourne’s South Yarra.

TikTok user @bella.plunkett took to the video app to share the news.

She and her friend showed the under-construction shopfront, which said: “Brandy Melville. Coming soon.”

“For all my Melb size 6 girlies,” the social media user captioned the clip.

Commenters who fitted into the narrow size range were over the moon, with one joking they would go broke after the store opened.

One said: “Someone please tell me when it’s opening!”

“OMG I’m going to Melbourne at Christmas,” another person said.

But some were disappointed with the second store’s location.

One said: “The Gold Coast gets nothing.”

“Bro I’m not gonna fit through the door,” another said.

Despite its European roots, the brand found huge success after entering the American market with celebrities such as Ariana Grande and Kylie Jenner making it a label of choice.

It first opened up in Los Angeles in 2009, bordering the UCLA campus, allowing it to quickly become popular with young women.

There are 97 Brandy Melville stores around the world currently.
