Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival: Black in vogue for autumn-winter collections
OUR passion for cutting-edge black fashion was satisfied as leading designers showed their autumn winter collections at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival.
MELBOURNE’S passion for cutting edge black fashion was satisfied last night as some of Australia’s leading designers showed their autumn winter collections at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival.
The first catwalk show, presented by Miss Vogue, opened with sleek and sexy black dresses, skirts, shirts and jackets from Scanlan Theodore and Etre Cecile.
New York-based Australian label Tome revealed why it is the talk of the Big Apple, showing beautiful pleated skirts and dresses alongside a stunning shimmering bronze trench and metallic silver tailored jacket.
Man-style pants and suiting were strong and eminently wearable elements of Bassike’s collection, while Camilla and Marc’s trans-seasonal strapless and single shouldered dresses were on many fashion lovers’ wish lists.
The stand out in the second catwalk show was Melbourne brand Gorman, with its bright colour combinations and unique prints.
These were tempered by Bul’s subtle and sophisticated silhouettes and colour palette, featuring soft full sleeve and sleeveless trench coats and dusty blue/green leather skirt and dress.
While black was the key colour of the night, Kuwaii showed an array of blue shades from royal, midnight, cobalt, navy and sky.
