DESIGNER Paul Vasileff has created an enchanted forest for his latest Paolo Sebastian range.
Titled The Sleeping Garden, the 2015 Autumn Winter couture collection has 18 pieces, many of which feature beadwork and embroidery with intricate rose, vine and leaf patterns.
It is being launched today with a campaign “lookbook” of breathtaking images in a mid-winter woodland setting, including this one featuring a layered tulle ballerina dress embellished with 3D flowers.
Photographed by Simon Cecere, the lookbook is complemented by a video.
“We had a smoke machine and music playing when were filming ... it was like a Disney movie and is exactly as I pictured it,” Vasileff said.
The collection’s face, Australian-born model Samie Robinson, who is signed with international agency IMG and currently on assignment in New York, was also Vasileff’s muse.
“I had her in mind when I was working it all out,” he said.
Other pieces in The Sleeping Garden include a full-length tailored coat fashioned from Australian wool, a lace jumpsuit and a finale gown Vasileff said was inspired by “frost on flowers”.
“All the fabrics used are of the highest possible quality,” Vasileff said.
“I designed all of the beadwork and embroidery myself and it’s the first time I have done that.”
Vasileff, who dressed E! News presenter Giuliana Rancic for this year’s Oscars, said the collection would be sent to the US where it would be shown to stylists selecting couture for celebrities to wear at red-carpet appearances.
