IT is the T-shirt AND shirt confusing the internet. Balenciaga has released a ‘double shirt’ … and fashion followers are not impressed.

LUXURY label Balenciaga has been criticised for selling a baffling T-shirt “shirt”.

The Spanish brand is charging up to $A1950 for the confusing clothing item that features either a crew neck T-shirt or short-sleeved shirt (dubbed the “double shirt”), with a second, button-up checked shirt attached to the front of it.

The designs have been branded a “joke”, “bizarre”, “fake” and simply “WTF” on social media.

It is yet another eyebrow-raising design from Balenciaga, which was last year mocked for releasing a calfskin carryall that was nearly identical to the Ikea blue shopping bag … only with a $A2150 price tag.

Social media users just could not make sense of the items today.

For those who are daring enough to wear the fashion forward (or backward) styles, they are available for pre-order now from balenciaga.com and are expected to ship in July, according to the brand.

Last April, Ikea said it was “flattered” by Balenciaga’s copycat tote.

“We are deeply flattered that the Balenciaga tote bag resembles the Ikea iconic sustainable blue bag for 99 cents. Nothing beats the versatility of a great big blue bag!” the brand said in a statement.

Balenciaga, a favourite label of Kylie Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian and Bella Hadid, is currently causing mayhem online with its top-selling Triple S low-top trainers.

The runners, which cost $A1255 on matchesfashion.com/au and have been sported by Hadid and Hailey Baldwin, are nearly sold-out everywhere.
