Brisbane clothing company Black Milk cop backlash for 'nerdy girl' meme posted on social media
A BRISBANE clothing company have shown how not to use social media after a posted meme outraged their fans.
BRISBANE clothing company Black Milk have provided a perfect example of how not to use social media.
It was meant to be another Star Wars day (May the 4th) joke - but it all went horribly wrong.
The meme featuring Amy Farrah Fowler, the 'nerdy girl' character played by Mayim Bialik on The Big Bang Theory, sparked a reaction from the online outlet’s fans, who were angered to see the Fowler-look being put down.
As fans raged on the company's Facebook page, Black Milk proceeded to delete comments, block several users and tell the remainder to “be cool with it".
Eventually the post was taken down and late on Tuesday night, Black Milk issued an apology on their Facebook page signed off by head of sales and marketing Cameron Parker.

“The intention behind the meme was to share a personal experience, and never meant to offend anyone,” the statement read.
“We misjudged the line between funny and offensive, and underestimated the true impact it would have. I am so sorry.
“I really hope any damage caused over the last few days can be repaired.”
Black Milk’s media team could not be reached for comment.
