Woman, 59, claps back after claims TV star ‘too old’ for bikini

TV star Amanda Holden was told she was “too old” to wear a bikini at 52 - and it has made some women angry.

Honor Marks might not look like your average influencer, but that doesn’t mean she can’t teach you something useful.

Better known as @honestlywithhonor, this content creator is a self-styled “midlife-champion” who helps other older women embrace life to its fullest.

The 59-year-old has amassed a following as she refuses to bow to society’s expectations, defying beauty standards by wearing bikinis into her late fifties and hitting back at trolls.

In a recent post, Ms Marks decided to clap back at disgraced influencer Andrew Tate, who recently doubled down on claims British TV host Amanda Holden was “too old” to wear a bikini in her fifties, The Sun reports.

“This is not a gratuitous photo of me in a bikini. This is a defiant photo of a #womanover50 nay #nearing60 wearing what the darn hell thing she wants,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself in a blue and white two-piece cossie.

“Honestly I’m so bloody riled by Andrew Tate’s comment on Amanda Holden’s post and I could not believe the amount of misogynists that dared to make comments about a mature woman wearing a bikini.”

Shocked by the amount of sexism surrounding older women, the content creator hit back at the idea of women passing their “prime”.

“The problem is this feeds into the stereotypical attitudes that I can’t believe in this day and age still exist so abundantly,” she continued.

“We need to stand up together to oppress these attitudes. Age is not a measure of anyone’s worth or attractiveness.

“Age is not a measure of anyone’s worth or attractiveness. We talk about inclusivity and diversity and yet a woman over the age of 50 is far too often excluded and dismissed as ‘past her prime.”

Ms Marks also protested the remarks by deliberately badly editing her own bikini snap, asking followers whether she was “too old” and “too fat” in the altered images.

“Old, young, fat, thin what does it matter? Please stop worrying about what others think of you and wear the short skirt, bikini, sleeveless top,” she shared.

“So get the hell out there and show those t***s what a real woman looks like. Cellulite and all.”

Holden, a Britain’s Got Talent judge, had been on the receiving end of Tate in September after sharing a photo of herself in a black two-piece, enjoying an outdoor shower while on holiday.

“You are a wife and a mother and youre [sic] far past a teenager. There is no need for this post,” Tate wrote.

He doubled down on his controversial views when he appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored at the end of 2023.

The British, who described Holden as “a good friend”, said the comment was “misogynistic”, adding the photo was “harmless”.

“She is in a bikini on holiday under a rain shower, looking extraordinarily beautiful,” Morgan said, to which Tate fired back: “In a sexual pose.”

“You can call me crazy, you can call me misogynistic, but I think once you reach the ripe age of 50, any woman should not be interested in thirst trapping on Instagram,” he continued.

“I think she has bigger responsibilities, I am sure she is a very intelligent lady and she has done amazing things.

“I think she is above it. I wasn’t insulting her, I was reminding her that she is actually such a fantastic person, she has done such amazing things in her life and she is so achieved, that she is actually above thirst trapping,” he ranted.

“I was reminding her of her worth, because as a feminist – we are all feminists here, right, we all believe in women empowerment – I am reminding her of her worth.”

Tate, a self-described misogynist, made the remarks while under house arrest in Romania after being charged with a string of human trafficking and rape charges at the end of 2022.

The 36-year-old, who was charged along with his brother Tristan, is currently awaiting trial and has denied all charges, claiming he’s confident he will be “absolutely exonerated” of the allegations.
