These jeans have a three-month long waiting list ... thanks to The Meghan Effect

THE Meghan Markle effect has well and truly taken hold. There’s now a three-month waiting list for this single item from her wardrobe.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visit Northern Ireland

“THE Meghan Markle Effect” is a very real thing. Just ask the Welsh designers of a pair of jeans she wore back in January.

During an official visit to Cardiff with her fiance Prince Harry, Meghan, 36, donned a pair of high-waisted skinny jeans by label Hiut.

Before long, the British brand was inundated with orders.

“The website went absolutely crazy. We have a back order waiting list for three months ... The effect has been remarkable,” David Hieatt, one of the founders of the company, told The Daily Mail.

Orders have rolled in from all over the world. There is so much demand that Harper’s Bazaar is reporting the Welsh company had to put on extra staff and move to a larger factory to increase production.

The style Meghan wore (‘The Dina’ high-waisted skinny-fit stretch jean in black) retails for £175 ($321).

Mr Hieatt said while the backlog in orders might not suit customers used to quick online shopping, the jeans were worth the wait.

He said: “Amazon Prime doesn’t teach patience, that’s for sure. But there’s something lovely about having something of a world class nature and having to wait for it.”

This isn’t the first time Meghan has caused a sellout with her clothing choices.

For her first ever official engagement, the former Suits actor carried a tote bag by Scottish brand Strathberry, which apparently sold out in 11 minutes.

A few weeks later, Meghan chose another Strathberry design — that bag continues to sell out too.

She’s not only setting the trend when it comes to handbags — women also seem to be loving her taste in outerwear — the white Line the Label coat that Ms Markle wore for her engagement announcement crashed the brand’s website, and a navy and white J.Crew jacket she wore earlier this month also sold out instantly.

Shoppers also clamoured to buy a more reasonably priced £45 ($82) Marks & Spencer jumper that she wore during a visit to Brixton in January. Not only did this one sellout instantly, it went on to sell for four times its RRP on eBay.
