Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day: Pia Whitesell, Samantha Armytage stun in race day looks
Model Pia Whitesell has stepped out in Sydney with her millionaire husband to attend a prestigious racing event.
Model Pia Whitesell has stunned in Sydney, attending a prestigious racing event on Saturday with her multi-millionaire husband.
The former Home And Away star – who now lives in Los Angeles with her partner, Endeavour executive chairman, Patrick Whitesell – joined a host of stars as an ambassador at Randwick Racecourse’s Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day.
“I’ve always been so fond of racing,” Whitesell told the Herald Sun.
“The event has always graced the sporting calendar with sophistication and opulence and as much as I love LA, I’ve missed the Australian flair that exudes the very best of fashion, hospitality and racing.”
Whitesell looked radiant in a strapless, white dress by Australian label Albus Lumen, featuring a corset design and pale blue stitch detailing.
Also flying the flag for local designers was Kate Waterhouse, the daughter of racing royalty Gai Waterhouse.
The 7 Racing reporter, known for her stunning trackside looks, stepped out in a structured, duck-egg blue dress by Tony Maticevski.
Waterhouse paired the look with red leather Ferragamo heels and a black, veiled headband by Somewhere Here.
Simone Holtznagel embraced the Easter pastels as well in a figure-hugging blue gown with corset-like top and matching wide-brimmed hat.
The model was joined by her boyfriend, celebrity trainer Jono Castano, who looked sharp in a checkered suit.
Race day fixture and Farmer Wants A Wife host, Samantha Armytage, was striking in navy blue.
The former Sunrise host matched her silk blouse and skirt with a quilted beret and Dior slingback heels.
Armytage opened up in an interview with Stellar, out today, about the “giant relief” she’s felt since quitting breakfast television in 2021.
“So many people want those jobs that, when you walk away from a big one, everyone goes, what?!” she said.
“But I’m very proud of myself for doing it. And I’m quite chuffed at how people have reacted; and by that I mean my friends and family and also people I don’t know on the street. I haven’t been on air for two years, so people could have forgotten me.”
Steve Smith and wife Dani Willis both cut classic figures, with Willis matching her white trouser suit with a beige hat and black and white Bulgari bag.
Model and influencer Nikki Phillips bought a pop of colour to Randwick, drawing the eye in a floral jumpsuit with matching blazer and an embellished black hat.
Nicole Kidman’s niece Lucia Hawley, who has recently stunned in a series of race day looks, was also in attendance.
The 24-year-old, who was announced as the new face of Live From E! in February, paired a crop top with a floral skirt for Saturday’s festivities.
“My motto is a little bit of less is more,” Hawley told The Daily Telegraph ahead of last weekend’s Star Championships event at Royal Randwick.
“But when it comes to race day fashion it’s like you just want to throw yourself into it and it’s fun because everyone does it.”
Hawley, the daughter of TV presenter Antonia Kidman, has described her new career as “amazing” and said she was “lucky” to have both her mum and aunt “as role models”.
