Outraged David Jones fans say store too classy for Kim Kardashian’s brand SKIMS
An Aussie retail giant has been slammed online after making a ‘disappointing’ Kim Kardashian announcement.
Australian retailer David Jones has copped fierce backlash after announcing they would be stocking Kim Kardashian’s popular SKIMS line.
Loyal fans of the store have accused the world-famous influencer of diminishing the retailer’s ‘class’ after DJ’s shared a video to their Instagram page of Kim promoting the brand.
In the clip, the reality star is draped in a longline black cardigan, while wearing nothing but a SKIMS bra and G-string as she stands in her multimillion-dollar wardrobe.
“An iconic wardrobe built around elevated, wear-me-everyday essentials, Kim Kardashian gives us a glimpse inside her highly-coveted closet to discover her enviable collection of Skims” the department store wrote on their Instagram post.
“Find the brand at David Jones, Australia’s exclusive stockist.”
However, despite the popular brand being worth $600 million and boasting a legion of dedicated followers around the world, David Jones customers were not impressed.
“This family have played a huge part in the denigration of society, values and created selfie culture” one commenter said.
“How revolting you have chosen to support them,”
“Yuck! Tasteless! Classless! Trash!” another commented.
“I will never give this human one cent of my money, David Jones what were you thinking?”
Many loyal fans of David Jones expressed their ‘disappointment’ over the launch.
“Disappointed DJ, go back a few years to when the store had class” one said.
“This is totally inappropriate for a company like yours to post something like this, one less customer.”
Despite having announced in August 2021 they were the exclusive stockists for Kardashian’s cult label, this is just the second time DJ’s has chosen to promote the range on their social media channels.
The first was in August 2021 where comments were mixed.
At the time, David Jones’ GM of womenswear and accessories Bridget Veals said, “As a brand that supports and celebrates size inclusivity and body positivity, we are absolutely thrilled to be the exclusive bricks-and-mortar retailer in Australia to stock Skims.
“We understand that Skims is already a highly sought-after brand in our market so we are delighted that we can make Skims accessible for our customers to try and engage with n store with support from our team of fitting experts and of course shop via our website,” she said.
David Jones did not wish to comment.
