Meghan Markle’s white trench dress is being labelled ‘brave’ by fans
The Duchess of Sussex’s first outfit as a mum is very different to the royals who’ve gone before her, with fans labelling her choice “brave”.
New mum Meghan Markle stunned wellwishers when she stepped out in a white dress to present baby Archie in St George’s Hall, at Windsor Castle today.
The Duchess of Sussex, who welcomed Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor just two days ago, looked remarkably chic in an bespoke white trench dress by British designer Grace Wales Bonner.
With all the trauma to the body that giving birth entails, most mums would steer clear of pale shades in the first few days, but Meghan bravely opted for a crisp white outfit for her baby’s debut.
Like sister-in-law Kate Middleton, Meghan was back in heels shortly after birth, wearing a pair of nude Manolo Blahnik BB pumps.
Her ensemble proved a striking contrast to both Kate Middleton and Princess Diana when they stepped on the steps of the Lindo Wing following their labour.
She kept her accessories to a minimum, wearing a simple Jennifer Meyer turquoise necklace.
She posed alongside a proud Prince Harry as they introduced the latest royal who was swaddled and wearing a hat.

The Duchess of Cambridge is known for her prim and polished appearances post-birth, and has previously paid tribute to her late mother-in-law with her fashion choices.
Following the birth of Prince Louis Kate, for a third time running, chose a Jenny Packham number for her son’s debut.
And the bespoke red dress with a white Peter Pan collar looked strikingly similar to the one worn by Diana when she stepped out with Prince Harry back in 1984.
Diana chose a long scarlet jacket by Jan van Velden, with a white shirt and red bow.
Following the birth of Princess Charlotte in May in 2015, Kate once again wore Jenny Packham in the form of buttercup print shift dress.
On the same spot 22 months earlier, the royal mum had also selected an outfit by the same designer — that time a pale blue dress with white polka dots.
This ensemble was also thought to be a nod to Princess Diana, who wore a green spotted dress as she left the hospital with baby William in 1982.
This was also the very first Lindo Wing appearance, with William making history as he was the first heir to the throne not to be born at home.
Meghan and Harry introduced their baby at St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle.
New mum Meghan described the experience as “magic” adding “I have the two best guys in the world, so I’m really happy.”
She went on to say the new arrival has the “sweetest temperament” adding “he’s the dream” with proud dad Harry adding, “I wonder where he gets that from.”
Harry added: “We are just so thrilled to have our own bundle of joy.”
Meghan and Harry welcomed baby Archie weighing in at 7lb 3oz (3.26kg) at 5.26am on Monday.
First time mum Meghan had hoped to have a home birth at Frogmore Cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle but had to be raced to hospital.
Meghan remained in the $28,000-a-night Portland private hospital overnight before going into labour in the early hours of Monday morning and giving birth at the stroke of daybreak.
Harry, 34, made an impromptu press conference on Monday, gushing over the “amazing” experience of being by his wife’s side.

On Tuesday, Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed the couple to the “sleep deprivation society that is parenting”.
The Queen also exclaimed she had eight great-grandchildren as she was congratulated on the news, and met the two-day old at Windsor Castle on Wednesday morning UK time when the baby’s name was revealed to the world.
