Lily Allen and her Australian tour rider caps off a gigantic week behind celebrity lines
LILY Allen and her Australian tour rider caps off a mighty big week behind celebrity lines. Here’s the insider’s look at what went down.
THE luscious Lily Allen has one mighty toxic tour rider.
Try this for size: a case of Peroni beer, a bottle of Whiskey; bottle of vodka; two bottles of soda water, fresh lime, ice, hand sanitiser, lemon, ginger, honey, camomile tea bags and two fresh towels. These are just a few of her little backstage requests.
As for the most ridiculous thing she has ever requested ... “Right in the early days I used to put on five copies of my album and the receipt.” Funny girl.
The singer played in Melbourne on Thursday night, she will perform at Sydney’s Hordern Pavillion on Friday and pulls up again on Saturday playing ‘Lily’s Laneway Party’ at The Standard Bowl for 2DayFM Breakfast. Then she heads to Byron Bay for Splendour On The Grass. The nail-art aficionado said she is looking forward to going bowling at the event but is worried about ruining her nails.
Although she doesn’t have a stylist with her, Lily says she has ‘a suitcase full of clothes’ and takes things into her own hands telling 2DayFM radio: “I kind of have like two or three hours singing along to music and dancing and doing my hair.”
MASERATI 100TH BIRTHDAY
Maserati celebrated a century of very fast cars this week and the launch of their newest, the Ghibli which has an entry price of $138,900. Maserati sold 13,000 cars worldwide in 2013.
In among the media posse at Sydney’s Otto restaurant included soon-to-be Vogue Living editor Neale Whittaker, radio man John Laws, entrepreneur Deke Miskin, Ian Joye, Paul Attard and Gary Baker (husband to Hermes boss Karin) who all gave the cars a quick once over before settling in for a “boy’s arvo”.
WITCHERY UNVEILS ITS LATEST

250 fashion media, digital style influencers (formerly called bloggers) and VIP guests included Gracie Otto, Emma Lung, Marta Dusseldorp, Kyly Clarke, Samantha Harris and Magdalena Roze. Joining that crew were fashion bloggers like Lindy Klim and Nadia Bartel and a whole heap of good Witchery customers. it’s a sheer summer season ahead.
MYER GOES ALL HOMEY
Fashion designers Karen Walker, Jayson Brunsdon, Leona Edmiston and R.M. Williams took their clothing hats off for a minute ... and lent their hand to homewares.
The Myer designers took over Luxe Studios in Sydney to prove their design talent extends well beyond covering our bums as homewares being their latest branding exercise.
As well, culinary queen Margaret Fulton showed off her new range of cookware. Great to see the original ‘celebrity chef’ is still going strong.

FIFTY SHADES TRAILER
Has the whole Fifty Shades thing jumped the shark? It seems an eternity since the books came out and it won’t be until next FEBRUARY before the movie hits screens.
The trailer ‘premiered’ at 10.30pm on Thursday night and while the two and half minutes looks very stylised, it did leave many wondering whether the Fifty Shades franchise may have had its day.
PACKER-ING A PUNCH
The Packer family and Crown Resorts gave $200 million to Australia’s philanthropic world this week.
The National Philanthropic Fund was launched in Melbourne with arts organisations receiving $100 million, while $100 million will include a special emphasis on indigenous education.
Gretel Packer, who is the head of the Packer family foundation, said the launch was a long-held dream: “Philanthropy has always been a part of our family life,” Ms Packer said.
“With this fund we commit to donating $200 million to the Australian community over the next 10 years.
“This exciting collaboration between Crown Resorts and our family creates a platform from which to contribute towards strengthening communities in Australia and developing our artistic future.”
It’s hoped the same kind of philanthropy will be seen from other incredibly wealthy folk and corporates.
KYLIE GETS THE CHOP
“A change is as good as a holiday they say. I say, why not have both?” said The Morning Show co-host Kylie Gillies this week.
Gillies has joined the bob brigade along with the likes of Lara Bingle.
“I’m off on hols for a week, which is why I accidentally did this with my hair this arvo.
“If anyone sees my boss @sarahstinson7 DON’T MENTION IT.
“I may have accidentally forgot to run it by her. Love you Sarah xx It’ll grow in a week. X @valonzhaircutters @amberjaynie”
Don’t stress Kylie. We’re all loving it.
