Family of Ksubi jeans founder Dan Single make mercy dash to Paris following balcony fall
THE family of Ksubi jeans boss Dan Single have made a mercy dash to Paris following a shocking balcony fall which shattered the 36-year-old’s legs.
FAMILY and friends of Ksubi jeans boss Dan Single have made a mercy dash to Paris as the 36-year-old’s condition worsens following a shocking balcony fall.
Mr Single, who was working in Paris with his young model wife Bambi Northwood-Blythe when he fell from a third-floor hotel balcony, is in an induced coma.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Mr Single shattered every bone from the bottom of his spine to his heels after slipping from the balcony and landing feet first on the Rue de Navarin, in Paris’ trendy Pigalle District.
The couple was staying at the Hotel Grand D’Amour — a revamped “art hotel” in city’s fashion and music hub, the 10th arrondissement, while filming a Paris Fashion Week video for their P. Jame clothing range.
On March 10, Ms Northwood-Blyth posted an image of herself out the front of the hotel with the caption: “Back to the best place in le world. Rue Paradise.”
It is believed Mr Single plunged from the balcony of their bedroom the following day.
He suffered no brain injury, but a source told The Sunday Telegraph: “His legs are a mess. He won’t be walking for a very long time. It’s expected both he and Bambi will have to stay over there for quite a while because he’s not able to fly.”
But on Sunday, it reported that Mr Single was in such a bad way that a group of friends and family were planning to fly to Paris to be by his bedside.
Following Mr Single’s hospitalisation, Ms Northwood-Blyth left the hotel with friends saying she did not want to comment but that she was “okay, thanks”.
The Hotel Grand Amour occupies a graceful six-floor pre-1850s Parisian terrace.
Mr Single is said to be still in the intensive care unit of a Paris hospital.
His former partner and the mother of his only child, fashion designer Pip Edwards told The Sunday Telegraph that “the family’ are set to fly in to Paris in a series of staggered visits as he recuperates”.
Ms Northwood-Blyth’s posts on social media since the accident have met with message of support from the fashion industry.
The 24-year-old’s most recent post on Instagram — to her sister — as she waits out her husband’s recovery shows the model in front of the Eiffel Tower at night.
She holds up a message, written in French and English saying, “Congratulations on your marriage. Sorry I can’t be there. I am sending you millions of kisses.”
