Celebrity stylist shares $30 Big W dupe of popular mum jeans

Fashion stylist Donny Galella has revealed there’s a pair of budget jeans in Big W that are identical to an expensive pair celebrities love.

A celebrity fashion stylist has shared a $30 pair of jeans he says are dupe of an expensive pair of jeans his famous clients love.

Donny Galella has styled countless Australian stars, including Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew and motivational speaker Turia Pitt as well as creating countless red carpet looks.

He also works as an ambassador for Big W to help Australians recreate affordable versions of expensive celebrity looks.

Donny told news.com.au one of his recent style inspirations was a casual outfit worn by social media star and former Miss USA winner Olivia Culpo.

The former beauty queen was seen wearing a pair of ripped “mum” jeans and a structured white T-shirt teamed with a colourful Bottega handbag and nude heels.

“I would estimate her total outfit would be over $6000 as her bag alone is worth $5000,” Donny told news.com.au.

“Her white tank with shoulder pads from Frankie Shop would set you back around $125.”

However, Donny has created a near identical version that comes in at just $72, using clothes and accessories from budget retailer Big W.

As well as the $30 “mum” jeans, Donny selected a white “padded tank” that retails for $12 – revealing a major secret about the style.

“One of my top styling tricks ever, is to broaden the shoulders with a shoulder pad or a puff shoulder, as that cleverly broadens the shoulder and makes you waist instantly look slimmer,” Donny explained.

“I love this $12 padded tank as it instantly makes your waist look smaller but always tuck or do a semi tuck to show off the waistline for this styling trick to work.”

To finish the “dupe” outfit, Donny chose a yellow “slouchy bag”, $25, and a pair of gold double link earrings, $5.

If you want to add shoes, the superstar stylist even had a $16 pair of slides he compared to a similar pair by brand Fendi which retail for almost $1200.
