If there was ever going to be a night for fabulous outfits, Sydney’s Mardi Gras was it.

Party goers were out in droves on Saturday night in their scantily-clad best, with Abbie Chatfield leading the way with her jaw-dropping look.

Sporting long brown tresses and a fringe thanks to the wig she was wearing, the podcast host looked incredible in a diamante-encrusted bra.

She paired the top with a sheer purple sequined skirt, which matched the G-string she was wearing underneath.

Chatfield completed the look with co-ordinating gloves, purple eyeshadow and statement silver earrings.

The former Bachelor star’s Mardi Gras look had fans in a spin after she shared photos of her outfit on Instagram.

“Sorry to everyone for giving u another reason 2 b jelus,” Chatfield cheekily captioned the post.

People were quick to label her look “iconic” and that they were “dead” over how good the influencer looked.

“So f**king hot! That wig looks amazing on you!” one person wrote.

“She definitely delivered,” another commented.

Model Imogen Anthony also wowed in her Mardi Gras look, wearing a daring silver halter top.

The former girlfriend of Kyle Sandilands also wore an orange wig and matching eyeshadow, as well as some very eye-catching acrylic nails.

Former Miss Universe Australia Francesca Hung also attended Mardi Gras festivities in a rainbow feather-inspired look.

At the Sydney Cricket Ground a sold-out crowd danced the night away as revellers celebrated Sydney’s spectacular Mardi Gras Parade.

More than 50,000 spectators let their hair, partying the night away as more than 160 floats from organisations, businesses and advocacy groups marched to support LGBTQ+ communities.

Darren Hayes, Vanessa Amorosi and The Wiggles were among the Aussie acts to perform for the crowd.

As per tradition, Dykes on Bikes kicked off the official parade festivities. The group has been ‘riding with pride’ since 1988 and are Australia’s longest running female-identified motorcycle club.

Boys on Bikes, Gay Tradies and Asian Marching Boys and Friends were joined by private companies such as Woolworths, Optus, and government agencies like Transport for NSW to march in colour and glitter.

Walking in the parade were Christian Wilkins, as well as The Block’s Mitch Edwards and Mark Mckie.

But it wasn’t all celebrations at the SCG. The Australian flags flew at half mast over the stadium’s members stand in memory of cricketing legend Shane Warne, who died earlier that day.

The event also began with a moment of silence for Ukraine and tributes to the victims of the floods across Australia’s east.

“We feel truly lucky to have the opportunity to come together and celebrate tomorrow especially given the invasion of Ukraine and the flooding across southeast Queensland and northern NSW,” said Mardi Gras CEO, Albert Kruger.

CEO of the Sydney Cricket Ground Kerrie Mather announced that in honour of this year’s Mardi Gras the Ladies Pavilion grandstand will be permanently renamed the Pride Stand and all bathrooms will be made unisex to support the comfort of all gender identities.

Mardi Gras returned to the SCG for the second time, with organisers insisting it gave the parade the best opportunity to go ahead due to Covid restrictions.

However, they hope it will make triumphant return to the home and heart of Mardi Gras, Oxford Street, for its 45th anniversary next year.
