A MUM has taken to social media to ridicule one of this year’s ‘must-have’ Christmas toys.

Livid Ciara Umar bought the $99.99 LOL Big Surprise for her daughter Elisa as an early festive treat following the hype surrounding the original sized toy.

The $100 toy has been dubbed one of this year's 'must-have' gifts for kids.

The mega limited edition version boasts 50 gifts in each ball.

However, Ms Umar, who is self-employed, issued a scathing review on Facebook after being left unimpressed by the contents.

In her post, the 27-year-old wrote: “So Elisa got the big lol surprise today I would definitely not recommend if you don’t want to waste your money the pic on the right is all you get just pre warning yas.”

Her post has been shared almost 8000 times and has racked up over 11,000 comments from other parents.

Agreeing with the mum-of-one, a Facebook user wrote: “Oh my god that’s terrible! How can they justify the price! Definitely won’t be getting one if that’s all u get.”

But others failed to be put off and one fan posted: “ There is a lot more you get with it, for starters you haven’t done any of the fizz bombs yet which have things inside.”

Ciara told the Manchester Evening News: “I was mortified when I saw the contents.

“It’s an absolute waste of money, it’s not even a full ball either, it’s only half a ball as the back is flat.”

The reaction from Aussie mums has been similarly dubious.

“So after you open it all you just end up with some really small pieces of plastic stuff? Is that it? It would be a no from me. It’s pointless,” wrote one mum on the Essential Baby forum.

“These are just tiny pieces of plastic that you used to get free in cereal,” wrote another mum.

“So much unnecessary plastic wrapping! They are just McDonalds Happy Meal toys wrapped in $100 worth of plastic branding,” wrote another.

Since its release in March, the LOL Surprise ball has sold over half a million of the toys in the UK alone.

A range of toys, clothes and accessories are packed into the toy for kids to unwrap. Some surprises are even hidden in bath bombs which have to be dunked in water to reveal the toys.

MGA Entertainment in the UK said: “LOL Surprise is currently the best-selling toy in the UK and a number of other countries.

“The LOL Big Surprise contains 50 exclusive surprises that can’t be found in other LOL products which individually are valued higher than the total RRP.”
