Children’s lavish 2023 Christmas wishlists are going viral
It is the most magical time of the year and also the most expensive – and children’s Christmas wish lists are going viral for a wild reason.
A 13-year-old girl’s Christmas list is going viral because it unearths what kids really want, and it certainly isn’t toys you can get at Kmart.
The teen’s aunty shared her luxury list on X, and it featured everything from Dior lip oil ($62), money (no amount specified), Gucci perfume ($190), and Drunk Elephant bronzing drops ($60).
She also wanted a silk pillowcase, and a MacBook pro for $2699.00, and asked for an unspecified amount of money again … because who doesn’t want money twice?
The young girl also wrote that she’d like a Frank Green water bottle for $59.95 and a Dior concealer for $74.
The list quickly went viral, and people were shocked that a young person could have such expensive taste; it looked less like a kid’s Santa wish list and more like a Paris Hilton’s Christmas recommendation for adults.
Before we get too finger wagging, the list just to speaks to the trend that children are now more interested in skincare and luxury items than ever before.
This festive season, we are seeing it play out online with people sharing their shock at youngster’s fancy requests.
I mean, who has time for toys when you need to perfect your skincare routine?
Aussie influencer Kat Clark, who has two young daughters, recently shared a last-minute Christmas gift guide for mums with girls on Instagram.
She didn’t suggest Barbies or picking up a Furbie. Remember Furbies?
She mentioned Mecca vouchers, the Drunk Elephant range, skincare products in general, and anything from Frank Green.
Are you seeing a theme? Clearly, these kids don’t understand that the joy of being a child is that you already have perfect skin and aren’t prone to hormonal pimples, but this is very much the new normal.
PR Queen Roxy Jacenko shared that her nine-year-old son Hunter’s Christmas wish list was less about video games and more about smelling like a rich middle-aged man.
The primary school student’s luxe list included a number of colognes – none of which you could pick up from Chemist Warehouse.
It included a Tom Ford perfume that costs $420, Coach Scent that will set you back $142, and Tom Ford’s vanilla fragrance that also retails for a cool $420.
Jacenko remained good humoured about it and wrote: “Oh how Christmas lists have changed since I was 9! I mean I’m sure, I was satisfied with Impulse as my daily fragrance.”
Jacenko is no stranger to shocking people with the lavish things her children want. Earlier this year she went viral for sharing her daughter Pixie’s wishlist for her 12th birthday.
She requested $700 Yeezy shoes, and an Alexander McQueen T-shirt for $580, not to mention the Yves Saint Laurent hoodie she wanted which retails for over $1k.
The lavish Christmas list is clearly an epidemic this year because Hayley, a creator on TikTok, went viral for sharing her niece’s wishlist.
She was left shocked when her seven-year-old niece requested Drunk Elephant for Christmas.
“How did this happen? How does a seven-year-old old find out about Drunk Elephant?” she demanded to know.
People in the comments section were quick to share that the children in their lives were also requesting similarly lavish presents.
“My niece is 13, and her entire list is a drunk elephant, $300 shoes, Lulu. Like girly, I don’t even buy that stuff,” one shared.
Another shared her 10-year-old niece wanted Drunk Elephant, Rare Beauty, Glow Recipe and Kendra Scott for Christmas.
While someone else shared that her 10-year-old niece had requested Glow Recipe, which is a popular range of skincare products, for Christmas.
“Sorry, no, I don’t have $45 for a single serum for your flawless skin,” she joked.
