Up-market salon charges more for a leg wax if you're over size 12
AS IF the sting of the wax wasn't painful enough, women larger than a size 12 will also be hit with a fat tax at one beauty salon because they require more product.
IF YOU are over size 12, the sting of a leg wax at one particular salon doesn't end when the last strip is yanked off.
Clients at the MM Bubbles beauty shop in London's up-market South Kensington are being charged a fat tax of Pound5 ($8.85 AUD) if they're a size 12 or larger.
Women bigger than a size 18 may face another Pound5 on top of that.
The UK's Sunnewspaper sent a plus-size model to see if the price hike was for real.
The size 22-24 woman was charged an extra Pound5 for her treatment, and was apparently told by the salon owner: "I know maybe for you it is not very nice but I use more stuff."
The model, known only as Helen, told the paper: "Luckily, I'm okay with my size.
"But for other women worried about their weight this could really devastate them."
Another woman, who was a size 14-16, was reportedly charged an extra Pound10 ($17.70 AUD), the Daily Mail reports.
