Kmart $22 makeup advent calendar ‘surprises’ Aussies

Kmart has released a brand new advent calendar for just $22, with one shopper revealing that the contents of the Christmas staple “surprised” her.

The festive season is gearing up, with many Australian brands releasing their advent calendars in the lead up to December – and one big box retailer has surprised Aussies with their $22 version.

Kmart released its OXX Cosmetics 12 Day Advent Calendar for the bargain price, which is currently available in store and online.

TikTok user Jarnah McMillan took to the social media app to say the advent calendar “surprised” her, unboxing it so her followers “didn’t have to”.

She said she only purchased it because it was “requested” as she didn’t feel like Kmart advent calendars were “worth the money”.

Items in the calendar include an eyeshadow trio, which she called “decent quality”, a mascara, a blush, a gold nail glitter and a gold nail polish.

Another TikTok user, Michael Jamie, also shared his opinion on the advent calendar after getting his hands on one.

“This might be better for those that are older,” he said. “Definitely for an older kid but still some good basics in there if you’re just new to makeup.”

Social media users shared their opinion of the calendar, with many being impressed by the contents.

“Am I the only one who likes the chocolate ones? I get so excited for my daily choc in Dec,” one social media user commented.

Another said the calendars were “pretty good” for the price point it was being offered at.

“Yessss this is so much better than the 24 day calendar,” one said.

Another added: “Sad the lip liner, lipstick and gloss don’t fully go together though.”

One user pointed out: “For $22 this is pretty good for young girls just starting to get into makeup and not wasting money on expensive ones while they learn.”

“I think this is for more like younger girls and not one that people really into makeup use,” one said.

Nicola Farrell, Kmart’s business manager, told news.com.au: “Kmart OXX beauty advent calendars have just landed in store this month, we have four different styles to choose from with a selection of new product that has been developed using best-selling OXX formulations so the quality is in line with the core OXX ranges that our customers love.

“Last year was the first time trialling this format and they were a massive success with our customers, so this year we have created a new line of advent calendars including a 24 day option. We love seeing our customers showcase the product on socials, and this is a great example of how the product can be used! We love to see it!”
