Others wanted to book a hair appointment stat. “I need that cut”, while another user said, “I would LOVE to have that cut”.
Friends’ legacy spans beyond the show’s popularity, given its drastic impact on pop culture.
‘The Rachel’ was such a phenomenon it could have had its own role in the show, with Aniston’s haircut becoming a universal talking point.
It was debuted by her character Rachel Green toward the end of the first season, which was just under a year since the pilot episode aired.
It saw Aniston’s previously lighter, wavier hair transformed into a darker, bouncier, layered and perfectly highlighted masterpiece.
Created by California stylist Chris McMillan, the hairdo was crafted specifically to be “a bit different”.

“I first created ‘The Rachel’ back when I met Jennifer, which was more than 20 years ago,” McMillan told The Telegraph in a 2016 interview.
“Back then, Jennifer had really long hair with a fringe.
“I told her she should grow her fringe out, get some highlights and just try something a bit different.
“We cut the length and added all in these layers to blend the bottom to the bangs – and the rest is history.”
This also happened during a time when Friends was averaging north of 25 million viewers an episode, while Aniston was the breakout star.
This winning formula saw ‘The Rachel’ fast become the hair to have, with stories all over newspapers and style magazines about salons all over the world being inundated with demands for ‘The Rachel’.
