Youthful looks or ageing fast? Ingenious website tells you how old your face says you are
YOU can stop worrying about how old you look to others. A clever new website will analyse your photo and tell you exactly what everyone’s thinking.
MOST of us are selfconscious about how old we look to others.
Now, a confronting website will tell you exactly what age your face says you are.
We experimented with some candid celebrity photos to see just how accurate a computer can be.
Facemyage.com asks users to upload a face-on photo, with hair pulled back from the face, no smile and no makeup.

It then asks for your real age and a few basic details about your lifestyle before calculating your “face age”.
The information required includes whether you have smoked, taken drugs, exposed your skin to the sun or had plastic surgery.
It will also give you your probability of living to 65 and 85, as well as a projected lifespan.
We started with an Instagram photo of baby-faced Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr.
Impressively, the tool was almost spot on, placing the 31-year-old at 33, just two years off her real age, with an expected lifespan of 81 years.
Lara Bingle fared less well, with the computer estimating her age as 32 — five years older than her 27 years.
Former beauty queen Halle Berry, 48, will be the happiest with her result. The website put her at 39, eight years younger than she really is.
In terms of men, Hugh Jackman’s estimate was pretty spot on, at 47, when he is actually 45.
Lucky Kanye West’s smooth skin belied his years with the computer putting him at 32, when he is in fact 37.
And Brad Pitt did even better, with the 50-year-old star thought to look just 41 years old.
The website should probably just be taken as a bit of fun, but it does break down the reasons people can appear older.
Forehead wrinkles are an obvious giveaway, as are crow’s-feet at the corners of the eyes “caused by years of squinting, laughing and smiling.”
Another is laughter lines on the lower face, where the muscles are attached to the skin along the “nasolabial line”.
The final factor is face shape, where a “loss of elasticity thins the jawbone, narrowing the chin and causes the chin to droop.”
