Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio ditches extensions for on-trend, shoulder-length cut
ALESSANDRA Ambrosio is known for her Victoria’s Secret-worthy hair. But the supermodel has jumped on board a new celebrity trend. See her transformation.
ALESSANDRA Ambrosio is known for her long, full, Victoria’s Secret-worthy hair but the supermodel has ditched her hair extensions for a more natural shoulder-length ‘do.
And she’s not the only one who has had a chop lately — JLaw, Khloe Kardashian, Kate Hudson, JLo, Lara Worthington and Gigi Hadid (well, it was a fake bob but it still counts) have all gone to the shorter side after previously sporting long, hair extension-heavy cuts.
The trend has seen Vogue brand 2015 “the year of the lob”.
The Brazilian model, 34, debuted the cut this week, after sporting her signature VS waves (translation: long, beachy curls) at the US lingerie giant’s runway show last month.
Celebrity hairdresser Joey Scandizzo said long hair — especially extensions — was over.
“It’s a lot of maintenance to keep them up and if you wear your hair up, you can see the tapes or clips,” Scandizzo told News Corp Australia.
“They work to give you volume but I always say a natural haircut with precision and that suits your face shape is always going to look better than fake extensions.”
And Scandizzo should know — he counts Dannii Minogue and Ruby Rose (“she’s got short cool hair and she pulls it off”) among the clients at his top South Yarra salon.
“Long hair has been ... on its way out for a while now. Even Lara Worthington has cut her shorter,” Scandizzo said.
“Obviously not everyone can walk around with a Lara haircut but anything below the jawline you can pull it off.”
