Urgent recall for Swisse beauty product sold nationally
The Therapeutic Goods Administration has issued an urgent recall for a Swisse supplement that is designed to improve skin health.
Mould growth has taken the shine off a popular “glow gummies” supplement, with an urgent recall issued for one of Swisse’s collagen products.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has put the spotlight on a batch of Swisse Beauty Collagen Glow Gummies, declaring a nationwide recall after mould was identified.
The TGA said the mould, known as Aspergillus penicillioides, was unlikely to pose serious health risks but could have more of an impact on immunocompromised collagen-takers.
Collagen is a form of protein naturally produced by the body but is often taken as a supplement to improve skin health or bring out a “glow” through its role in connecting tissue cells.
The impacted back has the product code 01-391-00001 and the batch number 106188.
The batch has an expiry date of 06/2023.
It was sold at 15 different distributors across the country, including supermarkets, chemists and online stores, a TGA spokesperson told 7 News.
“Individual retailers will be contacted by Swisse or these distribution companies with information on the recall,” the spokesperson said.
