The BarberShapp salon posted a video on their Facebook page calling the cut “Quirky, Stylish and Smooth” and dubbing it “a new trend in the making”.

The clip shows a hairdresser hacking away at a model’s long blonde locks, cutting away at different sections leaving behind like random shapes.

The footage, which was posted just three days ago, has been viewed a more than a whopping 8.3 million times and has received more than 40,000 comments.

One user wrote who obviously isn’t a fan of the new do wrote: “I think I can safely speak on behalf of the nation by saying that this is most definitely NOT going to be a trend. I have no other words.”

Many internet users have criticised the self proclaimed ‘quirky, stylish and smooth’ snip, dubbing it ‘ugly’, ‘stupid’ and scruffy’.

While another said: “Stylish???? Can safely say I will not be jumping on this bandwagon to have mine done. Looks like a crazy person who cut her own hair. Like when kids cut their own fringe !!!!”

But someone defended to look, which is often seen on catwalks, commenting: “It is a double cut, it looks great in shows but looks terrible on the average public doing their daily thing.”
