The best new beauty products you can only buy online

YOU won’t find the most desirable new beauty products at your local mall anymore. Some of the best ones are only sold online. Here’s where to look.

Kylie Jenner has turned her into a big cosmetics business. It’s pretty smart, really.

THE future of beauty is here — literally.

You won’t find the best new products in shopping centres. The internet is where the most desirable beauty products are born and sold these days.

You just need to know where to look.

Here are the online-only beauty products generating the most buzz right now.

(FYI, I’m not paid to promote these brands and this isn’t a sponsored post. I’m just a humble beauty nerd.)

GLOSSIER

Beauty blogger Emily Weiss is behind Glossier, the covetable makeup and skincare brand. All products are created with the input of thousands of comments, thanks to the devoted readers of Weiss’ blog, Into The Gloss.

Their best-selling product, the Boy Brow eyebrow pomade ($US16 / $A21), epitomises the Glossier girl’s laid-back look. And the new Cloud Paint ($US18 / $A24) cream blush appeared on many celebrity faces (hello, Reese Witherspoon) at this year’s Oscars.

But sadly, the only Glossier product available to Australians is Balm Dotcom Universal Skin Salve ($A49 for 3), via Net-A-Porter.

CHARLOTTE’S LAB

Juicy, replenishing skincare products can be found at Charlotte’s Lab, based in Australia’s Goulburn Valley. Charlotte White is a cosmetic chemist who worked for several well-known brands, before stepping out on her own with Charlotte’s Lab, and creating hand-making products featuring her favourite ingredients.

The Amazing Eyes cream ($17) and Gently Does It Facial Moisturiser ($25) was more effective on my skin than any high-end luxury skincare brand (and as a beauty editor, I try them all).

GO-TO

Australian skincare range, Go-To, is the Dame Edna of the local beauty industry: Iconic, industrious, peach-hued and hilarious.

Who else but creator Zoe Foster Blake (yes, the writer/beauty editor/TV producer/everything) would emblazon their Very Useful Face Cream ($41) with this description: “It will not: Make you spaghetti for dinner”?

I’m addicted to Face Hero, $45, the fruity-scented face oil which quenches my skin.

COLOURPOP

ColourPop Cosmetics has millions “liking” their every move on social media — which no doubt translates to sales. The popular Ultra Matte Lip liquid lipstick ($US6 / $A8), is just one example of their on-trend and affordable range. And shhhh … these liquid lipsticks are made in the same factory as the Kylie Lip Kits (see below), but are a fraction of the price.

Kylie Jenner, of reality TV and social media notoriety, is queen of the online makeup biz. The Kylie Lip Kits — a matte liquid lipstick and matching lipliner ($US29 / $A39) — constantly sell out. Sources tell me that the hype is worth it. Kylie Cosmetics boasts a range of eye, face and lip products, including the pun-tastic “Kyshadow” palettes and blushes with jailbait-y names like “Virginity” (shudder).
