The Beauty Diary: ‘Three products I always run out of’

A product used every day in bathrooms has been described as “liquid gold” thanks to is luxury finish and ability to cut out a tiresome task.

The Beauty Diary: My winter skincare routine

My beauty cabinet is somewhat of a revolving door these days, with barely-used products being passed onto friends to make way for new things I need to test.

Writing this column often means that even if I like something, I don’t have the time to finish it before I need to move onto something else.

However – there are a few exceptions.

These are the products that I am just completely obsessed with, my ride or dies, the ones I squeeze every last drop out of because they’re just THAT good.

Here are three of those goodies – and one is worth its liquid weight in gold.

L’OCCITANE ALMOND OIL SHOWER GEL

Available at David Jones, adorebeauty.com.au and au.loccitane.com

Price: $39

I’ve raved about this oil-based product in the past for its ability to transport you (mentally) to France with its delicious scent of almond croissants. But as showers are pretty much the highlight of my day at the moment, I’m telling you about this again. This luxe AF soap is super nourishing and doesn’t leave skin with that horrible tightness. In fact, if you are someone who is terrible at moisturising their body (#guilty) this will give your forgotten limbs some much needed moisture. I also love that lathers to a silky foam – perfect for when you need a TLC.

DERMALOGICA DYNAMIC SKIN RECOVERY SPF50

Available at AdoreBeauty, dermalogica.com.au

Price: $112

We need to wear SPF everrrrryyyyday – and this one is a bloody good one. It’s factor 50, is moisturising and is smoothing on skin, making it perfect for underneath make-up.

My face always looks flawless when I use this and it never pills or goes funny underneath my foundation. There’s no white cast or flashback and its fluid-like formula sinks in and is absorbed quickly. Yep, it is definitely exxy – but if you’re looking to invest in a formula that will make wearing sunscreen enjoyable rather than leaving you with sticky and greasy regret, this is one you should think about checking out.

TRINNY LONDON BFF DE-STRESS SERUM

Available at trinnylondon.com/au

Price: $75

This product is so easy to use that I find myself reaching for it day after day. Once you’ve applied your SPF in the morning, pump this onto your fingers and massage it around your face in a circular motion and watch as it melts in. When you’re done, you’re left with a brighter, smoother complexion and there’s no yukky residue like there would be if you took your fave bottle of foundation and did the same thing with it. It honestly looks and feels like you’re not wearing anything at all – it’s like your own skin, just better. Despite the name, the formula is more like a light moisturiser than a serum that gives a light coverage you can build up if you want more. It also visibly plumps skin thanks to Trinny’s love of hyaluronic acid (this product features two kinds for extra juice) – so it’s a real pick-me-up for skin. It’s honestly fantastic. Go get it.
