AUSTRALIAN model Robyn Lawley got real about her post-baby body, proudly revealing her stretch marks in a new snap on social media.

The first plus-size Sports Illustrated model appeared in a near nude selfie showing her “tiger stripes” as she hit back at a gossip article that surfaced during her pregancy admist the loss of close relative.

Falling victim to the limelight, an honest conversation with a friend turned in to gossip article reading, “Robyn considers abortion to avoid stretch marks.”

A year on, Lawley sets the record straight with an inspiring message to women.

“I was shocked not only because that is not what I said, not to mention I already had a tonne of stretch marks like 90% of the world, but to read that entire article and be already heavily pregnant, that’s their angle?” she vented to her followers.

Addressing the aftermath of hurtful comments, she confessed: “I’m familiar with being bullied, once for not having a thigh gap (insert face palm) but to bully me for something I never said, not to mention my decision would need to be more based on the fact that I will be taking care of someone’s life, a heavy decision to make, would never rest on getting stretch marks alone.”

“I think until it was pulled it had over 500 or more very abusive comments with no help from the original publication or my friend ... I personally tweeted the author of the gossip website to ‘have a heart’ as it was causing a huge amount of stress to me and I was worried about my unborn baby’s health.”

The 26-year-old model, who welcomed her daughter Ripley with partner Everest Schmidt in February, went on to talk about her post-baby body.

“As for my stretch marks I knew they were coming and as they’re fading into white (like all my others) I thought I might capture them. Because they are some bad ass tiger stripes. And I earned them.”

“We put an unbelievable amount of ridiculous time consuming pressure on women to care so much about their flaws they forget how truly beautiful they (you) are today.”

Getting candid, she encouraged her followers, “F**k them, who cares, be you, be loud, be proud. And put your efforts into skills that rely more on your physical self.”

“And to anyone who feels bad about your body especially after a baby, you are a warrior, you created a life inside of you, that’s no easy feat.”

Lawley concluded the lengthy post by shedding light on her pro-abortion views, before expressing her love for her daughter and human rights.

“It makes me mad seeing abortion discussed as a political agenda, women’s reproduction rights are in use for votes. I will always be pro choice. No one likes to get abortion but if your not prepared their should be no judgement into getting one. Women’s rights should not be used so gimmicky and spoken about so poorly.”

Fans flocked to comment, many praising the model: “100% agreed with you Robyn - thank you for being the voice of reason. You were the first person to make me feel beautiful as a 6’ foot tall, size 14. Thank you so much xoxox,” said one fan.

While other’s gracefully expressed a mixed reaction: “I remember when that article came out (I was pregnant too) and it seemed so strange as it disagreed with everything you stood for about being proud of your body! You shortly after explained it and it is nice to see you stand up for yourself again against it.”

“I strongly disagree with your stand on abortion (human rights should also include the precious baby who has no voice yet) but I do admire the work you have done as a role model for women being comfortable in their own body! You are a beautiful person, inside and out!”
