Priscilla Yuki Wilson’s experiment shows us what beauty looks like around the world

THIS woman sent her headshot around the world and asked people to edit it to resemble their personal beauty standards. The results are fascinating.

IF YOU sent your unedited headshot around the world and asked people to edit it to depict what they believe to be beautiful, what do you think the outcome would be?

A while back, we introduced you to Esther Honig, an American journalist who sent her headshot on a global voyage.

Using Fiverr, an online marketplace where people buy and sell different creative services, Honig commissioned a handful of designers around the world to show her what their definitions of beauty are.

More recently, a bi-racial, half-Japanese and half-black, woman named Priscilla Yuki Wilson decided to take the same approach.

According to these photos, these are the beauty standards in each country:

Original

Here’s the original image.

Albania

The Albanians have lightened her skin, blurred her features and slapped on some lippy.

Algeria

Er ... she’s in space now?

Brazil

Apart from lightening the skin, the Brazilians have left her semi-natural.

European Union

10 shades lighter and narrowing her cheekbones.

India

I think this is the closest photo to the original.

Mexico

Again, what’s with the shrinking of the head? Her face shape has totally changed!

Netherlands

Woah it’s like someone slapped white powder on her cheeks.

Pakistan

The Pakistani designers have lightened her skin.

Portugal

It appears her skin and eye colour has been changed here.

Singapore

She looks refreshingly similar to the original photo.

Slovenia

Not sure what is happening here — she is unrecognisable!

Sri Lanka

What is with this obsession with blurring? Let her keep her nose, please.

Sweden

So much lighter, and wearing a good slick of eyeliner too.

She just looks washed out poor thing.
