‘Plus-size’ blogger Jessica Kane explains her swimsuit photo

WHEN Jessica Kane posted a swimsuit photo on Instagram, her followers lavished her with praise. But she doesn’t think she’s being brave at all.

WHEN ‘plus-size’ fashion blogger Jessica Kane posted a swimsuit photo to Instagram two weeks ago, her 13,000 followers lavished her with praise.

“You are stunning. I wish I had your confidence,” wrote one woman.

“I seriously wish I would have had this confidence in myself when I was this size. I have lost 150 lbs (68kg) and you know what? I’m still not comfortable enough to go outside in a bathing suit,” said another.

“Jessica, you inspire me to be brave!” cooed one follower.

But Jessica doesn’t think she is brave.

The American blogger and editor of Scorch magazine says her innocent swimsuit pic had nothing to do with courage.

“THIS WAS NOT BRAVE. I’ve been told how brave I am for not having a cover-up, but going with out a wrap would only take bravery if I cared what others thought of me, but I don’t,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

“I spend my time worrying about things I CAN control and this day, I was only thinking about how fab I felt and how much sun I was catching [rays].”

Jessica says the title of ‘brave’ should be reserved for people battling illness, addition, domestic violence and suicide.

“THAT is brave. Not wearing a swimsuit at the beach. LIVE life and only worry about what really matters,” she wrote.

She called on her followers to upload a swimsuit photo of themselves with the hashtag #thisisntbrave.

Jessica isn’t the first woman to win praise online for showing off her curves.

Last month, an LA mother-of-three who posted a photo of herself wearing a bikini was applauded for her promoting a positive body image message.

“I have stretch marks and I wear a bikini,” Rachel Hollis, 32, wrote on Facebook. “I have a belly that’s permanently flabby from carrying three giant babies and I wear a bikini.

“My belly button is saggy (which is something I didn’t even know was possible before!!) and I wear a bikini. I wear a bikini because I’m proud of this body and every mark on it.”
