The 31-year-old Transformers star has what is considered to be the picture-perfect look with high cheekbones, a slim face and narrow jawline and chin.

Pop star Rihanna has the second most popular face shape for women.

The length of an oval face is roughly one and a half times the width.

Men are also seeking surgery to change the shape of their face, with the most popular shape revolving around the strong jawlines of David Beckham and model David Gandy.

The pressure to look good on social media has sparked a 15 per cent rise in face and necklifts — the cosmetic procedures considered to be the most effective in combating ageing, according to Dr De Silva.

A third of female patients and almost a fifth of men have said the pressure to look good on social media like Facebook and Instagram has been a factor in them seeking surgery.

Picture filters, in particular, have driven this trend.

Dr De Silva, from the Centre for Advanced Facial Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery in Hammersmith, West London, said people see how their appearance changes when they use a filter and seek to replicate it using surgery.

He said: “The diamond is the most desirable face shape for a woman.

“It is incredibly feminine and elegant.

“Megan Fox is one of the great screen beauties of her age and she has a symmetrically perfect diamond-shaped face. More women covet this shape than any other.

“Another beautifully elegant face shape that many women desire is an oval.

“Rihanna is a great example of a striking woman with a gorgeous oval face.”

Kate Moss also has a round face, but Dr de Silva says it is less desirable in an adult.

Dr De Silva said the number of men and women seeking face and neck lifts has risen by about a sixth in recent years.

“Facebook facelifts are on the rise as social media creates new pressures on people to look good, particularly in their public profiles and the pictures they share with friends,” he added.

“Face and neck lifts are the original facial cosmetic surgical procedures and they probably have the most dramatic impact in combating anti-ageing and rejuvenating the appearance of the face.”

The average age that women are seeking cosmetic surgery has dropped to under 40 for the first time, according to Dr De Silva.

Women are now going under the knife by 39 — down three years since 2012 when the previous average was 42.

The average age for male cosmetic surgery has also gone down in the last five years — from 47 to 45.

Dr De Silva said: “Ageing starts to show in our late 20s with the development of fine wrinkles and lines and speeds up significantly from our mid 40s onwards.

“As middle age progresses, a loss of volume causes droopiness of the lower third of the face and people develop unsightly jowls [double chin], lose the smoothness of the jawline and suffer from loose skin in the neck.”

Model Giselle Bundchen has the fifth most popular shape, an oblong face, according to Dr De Silva.

“Some women suffer an acceleration of ageing through the menopause with more laxity of their skin, further loss of their jaw line and loose skin in the neck.

“A facelift and necklift stops the sagging of facial soft tissues and skin, corrects the loss of a sharply defined neck and lifts deep facial lines that have occurred as a consequence of facial droop.”
