WOMEN around the world are raiding their partners’ shaving kits for the latest must-have beauty hack.

Like beauty lovers across Australia, they’re on the hunt for the hottest new primer make-up trend, Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave balm, and are clearing store shelves after rave reviews from beauty bloggers and Kylie Jenner who shared the humble product to her 10 million Snapchat followers.

The lightweight balm with an obvious masculine scent, which retails for less than $12, has been on the market for 15 years and is selling out across Melbourne leaving empty shelves in Priceline, Chemist Warehouse and supermarkets.

Nivea Men brand manager Guy Giovenco said sales had increased dramatically as beauty lovers opted for the hack. More expensive brand primers retail at up to $65.

“We’re doing out best to keep up with demand however people may find it difficult to get in some areas,’’ he said.

Nivea skincare expert Robyn Hutch says the secret to success is key ingredient glycerine. The balm doesn’t contain silicone which most make-up brand primers contain and can give the face a wax-feel finish.

“Glycerine effectively acts as the “glue” that keeps make-up in place,’’ she said.

“The balm is also light and absorbs quickly, allowing it to perform as a primer where we’ve seen it perform much better than some high-end primers on the market.”

Dutch beauty vlogger NikkieTutorials started the craze last year telling her three million You Tube subscribers she unearthed the product in her boyfriend’s bathroom cabinet after forgetting to bring her moisturiser and primer to his house.

She said it kept her make-up flawless all day long with no shine and hailed it “the primer that has changed my primer life.”

Leading make-up artists Jo Smith and Laura Vazquez, who paint the faces of Home And Away’s stars, have recently added the shave balm to their kits.
