Is this the tragic end of Lip Smackers?

FOR little girls growing up in the 90s, Lip Smackers were everything.

And now the company that produces the iconic beauty products — Bonne Bell Cosmetics — is being sold, with all 91 of its operations employees in Ohio to be made redundant, Cleveland.com reports.

But don’t despair, Lip Smacker fans.

The good news is that Bonne Bell’s new parent company, global beauty conglomerate Markwins International, is going to keep making your favourite lip glosses.

Markwins’s youth-focused brand, Aspire Brands, will rename Bonne Bell as Bell Family Brands and will continue to distribute Lip Smackers in Europe, Asia and Australia, Crains Cleveland reports.

Bonne Bell has been inundated with devastated fans who were had already begun mourning the loss of their beloved childhood beauty

“We are overwhelmed with all the Lip Smacker and Bonne Bell Cosmetics love you have all shown over the years!” the company wrote on its Facebook page.

“The Lip Smacker and Bonne Bell brands have been sold but WILL continue to be available for purchase in the US and internationally.

“This is a revamping to the brands and we are excited to see what the future holds! So don’t worry, you won’t have to live in a Lip Smacker-less world!”

Thank goodness for that.

Bonne Bell was founded in 1927 and launched the first Lip Smacker in 1973. The original founder Jesse Belle named the company after his daughter. They’ve released more than 800 Lip Smacker flavours in 50 countries in the past 40 years.
