A BEAUTY blogger who started posting photos of herself without makeup has published a video showing how ugly people can be.

Em Ford has a blog called My Pale Skin and she has built up a following on YouTube and Instagram where she posts makeup tutorials on how she covers up her acne to achieve a flawless look.

But three months ago she started posting photos of herself without makeup and began receiving thousands of messages about her face.

She decided to highlight some of these comments in a YouTube that has now been watched more than three million times.

In the video she appears without makeup surrounded by hateful comments that people have posted including “her face is so ugly”, “you look disgusting”, “WTF is wrong with her face” and “I can’t even look at her.

As the video continues she applies her makeup and gradually the comments change to “you’re so pretty”, “you look so stunning”, “I love your makeup” and “you’re so cute”.

She usually posts makeup tutorials.

However the video takes another dark turn as the comments again turn negative. Ford is told “you’re so ugly that’s why you wear makeup”, “this is false advertising”, “this is why I have trust issues” and “imagine waking up next to her in the morning”.

Em Ford has posted a YouTube video showing some of the comments she has received about her skin.

In the post accompanying the video Ford said she wanted to create a film that showed how social media could set unrealistic expectations on both men and women.

“Over the past few months, I’ve received thousands of messages from people all over the world who suffer or have suffered from acne, an insecurity or self confidence issues,” she wrote.

There are unrealistic expectations placed on people.

“One challenge many face today, is that as a society, we’re so used to seeing false images of perfection, and comparing ourselves to unrealistic beauty standards that It can be hard to remember the most important thing - You ARE beautiful.

“You are beautiful - no matter how flawed you feel, no matter how upset you may about the way you look or how hard you find it to make friends, or be confident. Believe in yourself, and never let anyone tell you’re not beautiful - not even yourself.
